Welcome to the Concord High Varsity Soccer website

11.30.09 The Concord JV Boys team competed in the 2009 JV Classic tournament (hosted at James Logan High School on 11.27 & 11.28).  On Friday 11.27 the JV Boys started off with a hard fought, high scoring affair coming out on top 4-3 against a talented St.Mary's High JV squad.  The JV Boys defense then tightened up and earned a 2-0 shutout against Dougherty Valley.  During Saturday morning's final group game, the JV Boys were off to an early lead 2-0 in the first half, Acalanes JV fought back valiantly to equalize the game at 2-2.  Then Acalanes was awarded a penalty kick to give them a 3-2 lead.  The Concord JV Boys never quit and in a mad scramble in front of the goal Alex Clewis tapped in a well placed corner kick from Andy Altamirano in the waning minutes of the game to earn the 3-3 draw and secure their place in the 3rd place match.

Just two points shy of earning the right to play in the Silver Division Championship match, the Concord JV Boys settled to meet the Kennedy (Richmond) JV Boys in the match for 3rd place.  Despite a strong wind gust that toppled goals down twice during the match, Kennedy Boys played tough defense until the Concord JV Boys broke them down in the 2nd half to win 3-0

Congratulations to Coach Stuart Watson and the Concord JV Boys for placing 3rd in the Silver Division of the prestigious 2009 JV Classic Tournament.  Only the 2nd time the Concord JV Boys team has placed in one of the toughest JV soccer tournaments in the East Bay!

11.21.09 The Concord JV and Varsity Boys scrimmaged the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) and NCS 3A Champions - De La Salle Spartans on Saturday, November 21st.  Both scrimmages served as excellent preparation for the upcoming winter season.

11.20.09 The Girls will play their first non-league season opener on  Friday, December 4th at Moreau Catholic (Varsity 3:30pm/5:30pm JV).

GO CONCORD!

----------------

The Concord High School Boys & Girls soccer teams have new leadership this winter season.  Jose Soltero Jr. is now the Girls Varsity Head Coach and Alfonso Munoz is the Boys Varsity Head Coach.  Both programs are now working together in unity.

Both Concord High Soccer programs have established success over the past 6 seasons.  The Concord High Boys Varsity soccer team was crowned the Diablo Foothill Athletic League Champions the 2006-2007 winter season.  That same season saw the Minutemen Boys Varsity team play in the semi-finals of the North Coast Section (CIF) Championship Series losing narrowly in double overtime to the eventual NCS 2A Champions - Las Lomas Knights. The Minutemen Boys Varsity team has qualified for NCS playoffs five of the past six seasons.  The most recent 2008-2009 season ended the streak consecutive appearances in the playoffs at five but the final game of the regular season ended on a high note.

The 2008-2009 Minutemen Varsity Boys squad, led by Diablo Valley Athletic League (DVAL) First Team All-League Senior captain Daniel Araujo, finished the season with a remarkable come from behind win down to ten players against the eventual DVAL League Champions - College Park Falcons.

Only a few years removed since the Girls Varsity Soccer Team reached the NCS Championship game not once but two consecutive seasons.  The Varsity Girls team returns a strong core of players from the 2008-2009 season that are hungry to redeem themselves after being removed from post-season participation on a technicality.
